What's Alternative school? / โรงเรียนทางเลือกคืออะไร

Welcome back to the world of Alternative Education again, which I talked about it last week. In this week, I will keep continuously following up about “What is the Alternative School..?”

Alternative school has provided a special curriculum offering a more flexible program of study than traditional school. It is difficult to explain in a very wide range of philosophies and teaching methods which are offered by alternative schools; some have strong political, scholarly, or philosophical orientations, while others are more ad-hoc assemblies of teachers and students are dissatisfied with some aspect of mainstream or traditional education.

There are four different characters of Alternative Schools that are different from Traditional School:

1.               Totally difference from mainstream education

2.               Education for special children

3.               Diversity

4.               Autonomy

In the normal parental perspective, Alternative School is the school that is different from mainstream school in term of curriculums, teaching method, environment and teachers. Most of alternative schools focus on student/learner differences, and develop them to be both wise and good people. It makes alternative school becomes more advantage than mainstream school. This is very challenge for me to find an answer how alternative school is better than traditional school especially in Thai Education System.

However, alternative school has some limitations. From my survey, it showed that Thai Education System is left behind the alternative school in term of concept, curriculum, evaluation and quality of teachers and learners. That’s why many parents choose alternative school for their children rather than traditional schools.

            Another thing that you need to concern about is the fact that the school fee of alternative school is higher than mainstream school. Please think about your budget before choosing an alternative school for your children. From my survey recently, I have found nine different concepts of alternative schools that are still using in Thailand. 

1.               Montessori Method

2.               Waldorf Method

3.               Neo-Humanist Education

4.               Whole Language

5.               Reggio Emilia Approach

6.               Project Approach

7.               High/Scope Approach

8.               Buddhist  Approach Education /Withi Pud 

9.               Summerhill

กลับมาทักทายกันอีกครั้งในสัปดาห์นี้นะคะ ก็คงเป็นเรื่องต่อจากสัปดาห์ที่แล้วว่า “โรงเรียนทางเลือกคืออะไร” สัปดาห์ก่อนเราก็ได้คุยกันเรื่องการศึกษาทางเลือกกันไปแล้ว ผู้อ่านก็คงพอจะนึกความหมายกันได้บ้าง งั้นก็มาลุยกันต่อเลยนะคะ โรงเรียนทางเลือก ไปทางไหนก็ได้ยินแต่โรงเรียนทางเลือก แล้วมันคืออะไรนะ นุ้ยมาตอบให้แล้วค่ะ (จากการค้นหาบวกกับสมองอันน้อยนิด สามารถประมวลออกมาตามความเข้าใจของตัวเองได้ดังนี้ค่ะ)

            

โรงเรียนทางเลือก คือ โรงเรียนที่จัดการศึกษาตามแนวคิดใหม่ ซึ่งปฏิเสธการจัดการศึกษาในระบบที่เป็นรูปแบบเดียวของรัฐ โดยใช้หลักสูตรเหมือนกันๆ มีวิธีสอนแบบเดียวกัน วัดและประเมินผลด้วยระเบียบและวิธีการเดียวกัน ที่เชื่อว่าวิธีการเหล่านี้เป็นการทำลายศักยภาพความเป็นมนุษย์และตัวตนของผู้เรียน (((( (ดร.วรากรณ์ สามโกเศศ และคณะ: ๒๕๕๓)      

ลักษณะที่สำคัญของการศึกษาทางเลือกแบ่งเป็น ๔ ลักษณะ

๑. การศึกษาที่แตกต่างจากการศึกษากระแสหลัก

๒. การศึกษาสำหรับเด็กกลุ่มพิเศษ

๓. การศึกษาที่มีลักษณะหลากหลาย (Diversity)

๔. การศึกษที่มีระดับความเป็นอิสระ (Autonomy)

        สำหรับในมุมมองของผู้ปกครอง หรือพ่อแม่ทั่วไป รวมถึงตัวนุ้ยเองแล้วนั้น โรงเรียนทางเลือก ก็คือโรงเรียนที่มีความแตกต่างจาก รร. ทั่วไป ทั้งในด้วยหลักสูตร วิธีการสอน บรรยากาศ รวมทั้งครูผู้สอน โดยเน้นถึงความแตกต่างระหว่างบุคคลของผู้เรียน ซึ่งเน้นให้ผู้เรียนมีความพร้อมทางด้านสติปัญญา และจิตใจไปพร้อมๆ กัน นุ้ยคิดว่าเมื่อเขียนมาถึงตรงนี้แล้ว ผู้อ่านก็คงคิดว่า อย่างนี้ โรงเรียนทางเลือกดูจะมีคุณภาพมากกว่า รร. ในระบบปกติใช่หรือไม่ นั่นคือคำถามที่นุ้ยเองก็กำลังหาคำตอบกับระบบการศึกษาของสังคมไทยอยู่เช่นกัน

นุ้ยเองก็ได้เข้าไปสำรวจดูโรงเรียนทางเลือกหลายๆ โรงเรียนเช่นกันก่อนนะส่งลูกเข้า แต่ละที่ก็มีแนวคิดและปรัชญา ที่แตกต่างกันออกไป แต่โดยรวมแล้วนั้นก็มุ่งเน้นที่ตัวผู้เรียนเป็นสำคัญ และเน้นความเป็นมนุษย์ที่สมบูรณ์ (ชอบวลีนี้ค่ะ)

แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม โรงเรียนทางเลือกก็ยังมีข้อจำกัดอยู่หลายอย่างค่ะ เท่าที่นุ้ยสำรวจมาได้ก็จะพบว่า ระบบการศึกษาของรัฐ ตามไม่ทันกับทิศทาง ปรัชญาหรือแนวคิดของโรงเรียนทางเลือก ทั้งในด้านหลักสูตร และการประเมินผล รวมถึงคุณภาพของผู้เรียนและผู้สอนด้วยเช่นกัน รัฐนั้นยังคงมีระบบที่ตายตัว ไม่ยืดหยุ่น และไม่เอื้อต่อการจัดการศึกษาที่สนองปรัชญาทางสังคมและผู้เรียนของโรงเรียน ทั้งที่ พรบ. การศึกษาฯ ได้เปิดกว้างไว้แล้วเช่นกัน

ถ้าจะให้กล่าวถึงความเป็นจริงแล้ว ค่าใช้จ่ายในด้านการเรียนการสอนของโรงเรียนทางเลือกนี้จะมีต้นทุนที่สูงกว่า ฉะนั้น ค่าธรรมเนียมทางการศึกษาก็จะต้องสูงกว่าปกติด้วยเช่นกัน ทั้งนี้ก็จะต้องขึ้นอยู่กับฐานะทางเศรษฐกิจของครอบครัวที่จะตัดสินใจส่งลูกเข้าโรงเรียนทางเลือก หรือโรงเรียนในระบบของรัฐ

นุ้ยได้ผ่านช่วงเวลาของการหา รร. ปฐมวัยของลูกมาแล้ว แต่ในตอนนี้ กำลังจะต้องกา รร.ประถมศึกษาให้ลูกต่อไปค่ะ จะส่งเข้าทางเลือกต่อไป หรือว่าจะเอาลูกเข้าเอกชน หรือทางออกสุดท้ายคือการส่งลูกเข้าในระบบของรัฐ ซึ่งก็เป็นที่รู้ๆ กันกว่า อยู่ในขั้นกำลังพัฒนา (ปล. ใจจริงไม่อยากให้ลูกได้แท็ปเลตค่ะ) พูดจากใจจริงนะคะ ยิ่งอ่านมาก ค้นคว้ามาก มีความรู้มาก ความกลัวก็ยิ่งมากขึ้นค่ะ รร. อะไรนะที่เหมาะกับลูกเรา และตอบโจทย์ลูกเรามากที่สุด (ประมาณว่านุ้ยเยอะไปเองค่ะ ถ้าไม่คิดมาก รร. อะไรก็ได้ เหมือนสมัยเราใช่ไหมคะ รร.สพฐ. ก็เรียนมาได้ จบมาได้ แต่ทำไมปัจจุบัน เราจึงมีคำถามมากมายกับ รร. ในระบบ)

ออกนอกเรื่องมาซะหลายย่อหน้า กลับมาต่อแล้วค่ะ แล้วโรงเรียนทางเลือกมีกี่แบบนะ เท่าที่นุ้ยสำรวจมาได้นะคะ ก็จะมีดังนี้ค่ะ

๑. การเรียนการสอนแบบมอนเตสซอรี่ (Montessori Method)

๒. การเรียนการสอนแบบวอลดอร์ฟ (Waldorf Method)

๓. การเรียนการสอนแบบนีโอ-ฮิวแมนนิสต์ (Neo-Humanist Education)

๔. การเรียนการสอนแบบธรรมชาติ (Whole Language)

๕. การเรียนการสอนแบบเรกจิโอเอมิเลีย (Reggio Emilia Approach)

๖. การเรียนการสอนแบบโครงการ (Project Approach)

๗. การเรียนการสอนแบบไฮ/สโคป (High/Scope Approach)

๘. การเรียนการสอนแบบวิถีพุทธ

๙. ซัมเมอร์ฮิลล์ (Summerhill) หมู่บ้านเด็ก

ครั้งแรกที่อ่านเจอข้อมูลเกี่ยวโรงเรียนทางเลือก โอ้โหมีตั้งมากมายหลายแบบ แล้วเราจะเลือกแบบไหนให้ลูกดีล่ะ แล้วแต่ละแบบเป็นยังไง อ่านกันเข้าไป เข้าใจบ้างไม่เข้าใจบ้าง บางครั้งก็ได้ยินว่า รร. นั้นดี รร. นี้ดี ก็หาข้อมูลกันหน่อยซิว่าเป็นยังไง กว่าจะตัดสินใจได้ก็เกือบปี เยอะไปไหมคะสำหรับแม่คนนี้ แต่นุ้ยบอกจุดยืนกับที่บ้านอย่างชัดเจนเลยค่ะ ว่าจะไม่ให้ลูกเข้า รร. ที่เร่งอ่านเขียน อย่างดีก็แค่เตรียมความพร้อมหรือโรงเรียนทางเลือกค่ะ อาจจะขัดกับพ่อแม่บางท่านนะคะ แต่นุ้ยก็สามารถรับฟังความคิดเห็นของทุกๆ ท่านได้ค่ะ เพราะเป็นวิทยาทานเพิ่มความรู้ให้แก่เรา

        สัปดาห์หน้าจะมารีวิว การเรียนการสอนแบบแรกกันนะคะ คือแบบมอนเตสซอรี่ (Montessori Method)อย่าเพิ่งเบื่อกันนะคะ อยู่เป็นกำลังใจกันอีก ๙ สัปดาห์ ดูนานมากเลยใช่ไหม นุ้ยก็หาข้อมูลมานานมากเหมือนกันค่ะ อยากแบ่งปันกันนะคะ อาจจะมีความรู้สึกตัวเองใส่ลงไปบ้าง ก็อย่าได้ถือสานะคะ

นุ้ยตั้งใจไว้ว่าถ้าจบการเขียนเกี่ยวกับ รร. ทางเลือกแล้ว ก็จะเขียนเกี่ยวกับ รร.สาธิตค่ะ เพราะอยากรู้เหมือนกันว่า รร. สาธิตดีอยางไร ทำไมผู้ปกครองหรือ พ่อแม่ อยากจะส่งลูกเข้าไปเรียนกันมากนัก เสียเท่าไหร่ก็ยอม มันช่างน่าสงสัยเสียจริง ก็เป็นปัญหาที่นุ้ยจะหาคำตอบต่อไปค่ะ ไว้พบกันสัปดาห์หน้าค่ะ

What's Alternative Education / การศึกษาทางเลือกคืออะไร

Definition of Alternative Education

Generally Alternative Education or Educational Alternative is also known as a non-traditional education, including numbers of teaching and learning approaches rather than the traditional education. Educational Alternative is often appeared in many kinds of varieties in term of rooted education philosophies that is fundamentally different from the Traditional Education. While some take part in form of strong political, scholarly, philosophical orientations, others are more informal associations of teachers and students dissatisfied with some aspect of mainstream or Traditional Education. Educational Alternatives, which include charter schools, alternative schools, independent schools, and home-based learning are vary widely; but often emphasize the value of small class size, close relationships between students and teachers, and a sense of community. In the moment that the first paragraph has been explored, it would be adequate information to definite the meaning of Alternative Education for the reader. Maybe my view is too academic at this time, but it is important to understand at the beginning of our talk what Alternative Education is about. Then, we can talk about what the alternative school is? Why do we need to know about that? Because, we are parents and the decision is finally always made by us. In another word, the more we understand of the meaning, the more chance of our kids in the future will be happy at school. Therefore, we need to determine the future of education for our children carefully, so in this blog, I belief we could then have enough knowledge of finding a school for our children. Before we go more in detail, we must first understand our children in term of their personality, attitude, character and feeling. This is because finally your kids will be happy studying in a good suitable school for the very first of their early childhood.

One of the important things, to make a school choice for children, it should not follow The market trend too much, because it is not always the right school for your children. Unlucky thing for the parents right now in the society is that they have received over information from many kinds of media and they also have an ability to afford such an expensive school that they think it is good for their kids. As the result, Alternative School is now more in the education market. I belief everyone wants to have the best school for their children, but how much do you understand about the school and your children. I am sure some parents have experienced children cries and refuses to go to school. How about you? At the moment, Alternative school has been a popular choice in Thai society, especially among middle-high class parents in society, which I would like to mention mainly in this blog, and which I also would like to invite everyone to share and comment on it.

Nowadays, there are many alternative schools in Thailand, especially in Bangkok.

2. Could you compare some advantages and disadvantages of each type of the schools?

การศึกษาทางเลือก คือ การศึกษาที่มีรูปแบบแตกต่างจาการศึกษากระแสหลัก เป็นการศึกษาที่มีขอบเขตกว้างขวาง มีรูปแบบหลากหลาย ทั้งเนื้อหา และวิธีการเรียนรู้ เนื่องจากมุ่งตอบสนองการเรียนรู้ที่สอดคล้องกับธรรมชาติของมนุษย์แต่ละคนที่มีความแตกต่างกัน ทั้งในด้านความถนัด ความสนใจ ความพร้อมในการเรียนรู้ รวมถึงความแตกต่างด้านสภาพแวดล้อมในวิถีชีวิตครอบครัว สังคม วัฒนธรรม และความหลากหลายทางชาติพันธุ์ ตัวอย่างของการจัดการศึกษาทางเลือกในปัจจุบัน สามารถเห็นได้จากรูปแบบของโรงเรียนวิธีธรรม โรงเรียนวิถีธรรมชาติ และโรงเรียนที่จัดการเรียนการสอนตามแนวคิดและปรัญญาของนักการศึกษาต่างๆ แต่ทั้งหมดนี้ล้วนมีจุดมุ่งหมายเดียวกัน คือ พัฒนาผู้เรียนให้เป็นมนุษย์ที่สมบูรณ์ทั้งด้านสติปัญญา และจิตใจ

การศึกษาทางเลือกในประเทศไทย 

๑.     เริ่มเกิดขึ้นมานากว่า ๓๐ แล้ว เช่น โรงเรียทางเลือกอย่าง รร. หมูบ้านเด็ก ร.ร. รุ่งอรุณ ร.ร. สัตยไสย หรือ ร.ร.สัมมาสิกขา (อโศก) และอื่นๆ อีกหลายแห่ง

๒.     เป็นการจัดการศึกษาแบบบ้านเรียน (Home School) รวมทั้งรูปแบบของการจัดการศึกษษการเรียนรู้ทางเลือกอันหลากหลาย ซึ่งกระจายตัวอยู่ใน ๔ ภาค เช่นศูนย์การเรียนรู้ชุมชน โฮงเฮียนสานล้านนา โรงเรียนชุมชนชาวนา โรงเรียนยุวรังสรรค์ เป็นต้น

เมื่อท่านอ่านมาถึงตรงนี้คงจะพอทราบความหมายคร่าวๆ ของการศึกษาทางเลือกกันบ้างแล้วนะคะ อาจจะดูเป็นวิชาการจังเลยในครั้งนี้ แต่นุ้ยอยากให้ผู้อ่านทุกคนได้เข้าใจความหมายกันก่อนว่า การศึกษาทางเลือก และโรงเรียนทางเลือกคืออะไร เพราะการเป็นพ่อแม่ หรือผู้ปกครองนั้น เราจะเป็นผู้กำหนดอนาคตทางการศึกษาให้ลูก เราต้องเป็นผู้มีความรู้ในด้านนั้นๆ อย่างถ่องแท้ ทั้งในเรื่องของโรงเรียน และลูกของเรา เราต้องเข้าใจพื้นฐานเค้าก่อนว่า เค้าเป็นเด็กแบบไหน นิสัยเป็นอย่างไร รู้และเข้าใจในตัวตนของเค้า เราจึงสามารถที่จะเลือก รร. ที่เหมาะสมกับเค้าได้

การเลือก รร. ให้ลูกนั้น ไม่ควรอย่างยิ่งที่จะเลือกตามกระแส แต่ที่แน่นอนนั้น พ่อ แม่ หรือผู้ปกครองก็ไม่ควรตกกระแสเช่นกัน นุ้ยเองยอมรับเลยว่าในปัจจุบันนี้ พ่อแม่มีความรู้มากขึ้น และกำลังทรัพย์มากขึ้น สามารถที่จะเลือก รร. ที่ดีให้ลูกได้ เพราะพ่อแม่ทุกคนล้วนแล้วอยากจะให้ลูกทั้งเก่งด้านวิชาการ แต่ในขณะเดียวกันก็จะต้องมีความสุขการเรียนไปด้วยกัน ก็ไม่ต้องแปลกใจเลยว่า ทำไม รร.ทางเลือก จึงได้รับความนิยมเป็นอย่างยิ่งในหมู่พ่อแม่ในระดับชนชั้นกลางถึงระดับชนชั้นสูงในสังคมปัจจุบัน ในที่นี้นุ้ยขอกล่าวถึงในกรุงเทพฯ มหานครเป็นหลักนะคะ ก่อนที่จะให้ลูกเข้า รร. ใดนั้น พ่อแม่ต้องรู้จักลูก และรู้จัก รร. ให้ดีก่อนเช่นกัน และยิ่งไปกว่านั้น จะต้องรู้ถึงปัจจัยในกระเป๋าของเราเช่นเดียวกัน

ปัจจุบัน รร. ทางเลือกเกิดขึ้นมากมายในประเทศไทย เช่น รร. ปัญโญทัย รร.แสนสนุกไตรทักษะ รร. อนุบาลกรแก้ว รร.สมบุญวิทย์ รร. ทอรัก รร. อมาตยกุล รร. ดรุณสิกขาลัย รร.ทอสี รร. รุ่งอรุณ รร.สัตยาไสย เป็นต้น คุณพ่อคุณแม่ หรือผู้ปกครอง รวมถึงท่านผู้อ่านทราบไหมว่า รร. ทางเลือกนั้นมีกี่แบบ แต่ละแบบเป็นอย่างไรเน้นในด้านใด และก็แตกต่างกันอย่างไร ลูกเราอยู่ รร. ทางเลือกแบบไหน ข้อดี และข้อเสีย เป็นอย่างไร  และที่สำคัญ รร. ทางเลือกแตกต่างจาก รร. ในระบบของ สพฐ. อย่างไร ตอบกันได้ไหมคะ ไว้ในสัปดาห์หน้า นุ้ยจะมาเล่าให้ฟังนะคะว่า รร. ทางเลือกมีอะไรบ้าง ติดตามในสัปดาห์หน้านะคะ

For our Children

I would like to introduce myself and my fruitful research study that would be beneficial for the first school of your children.

My name is Nui. I am still a full time breast feeding mom and a Master student in Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Mahidol University.

As a part of my education programme in the subject of Knowledge Management, I have created this weekly blog to share and exchange information among parents around the world about 

how to select the best kindergarten school for their children and also some relevant information about parental skills and experiences that could be applied for your children.

This blog will be focused on Alternative School in Thailand, which I would like you to share your difficulty how you chose or where you got information from for the first school for your children. 

Obviously, parents would like to seek the best school or kindergarten as the first school for their children, which I also have had this kind of experience before.

I had to search a lot of information from many sources, but in the end, I found that it was very hard for me to choose a good school for my son.

In this regard, this blog could be a platform or forum among educators, teachers or parents who want their children educate in Thailand at the beginning of their age. I will share my experience in the role of parent in this blog and I hope you would like to share yours too. I think this blog would be benefit for new parents who are looking for a school for their children. Your experience is not just only exchanged in Thailand, but I think it is also interested in around the world.

ชื่อ นุ้ย ค่ะ ปัจจุบันมีอาชีพประจำคือ แม่บ้านค่ะ และอาจเสริมคือ นักศึกษาปริญญาโทด้านการศึกษาค่ะ

เพิ่งมาเริ่มเขียนบล็อกก็เพราะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของรายวิชา KM. (Knowledge Management) 

แต่กระนั้นเลยก็ยังมีแรงบันดาลใจในที่จะแชร์ประสบการณ์เกี่ยวกับการหาโรงเรียนอนุบาลให้กับลูกรัก 

และประสบการณ์การเป็นพ่อแม่ ซึ่งก็เป็นบทบาทใหม่สำหรับนุ้ยเองเช่นกัน

ในบล็อคนี้นุ้ยจะเน้นในเรื่องการศึกษาทางเลือก และโรงเรียนทางเลือก 

ซึ่งในขณะนี้เป็น รร. ที่ได้รับความนิยมมากในหมู่ผู้ปกครอง 

ตัวนุ้ยเองนั้นก็ต้องหาข้อมูลมากมาย กว่าจะเลือก รร. ให้ลูกได้ 

ทั้งหาจากอินเตอร์เน็ท หนังสือคู่มือต่างๆ ซึ่งไม่แค่ไม่กี่สำนักพิมพ์ และก็การเข้าไปสำรวจ รร.จริงๆ 

แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม นุ้ยก็ต้องตัดสินใจส่งลูกเข้า รร. อนุบาลแห่งหนึ่งไปเป็นที่เรียบร้อยแล้วค่ะ 

ถ้าจะถามว่ายากไหมในการกำหนดอนาคตทางการศึกษาของลูกซึ่งเราต้องเป็นผู้เลือกในเบื้องต้น

ก็ขอตอบว่ายากค่ะ ยิ่งเราค้นหาข้อมูลหรือความรู้ได้มากเท่าไหร่ หรือว่ามีกำลังทรัพย์พอดีจะส่งลูกได้

ก็ยิ่งต้องเลือกค่ะ และทางเลือก ก็มีมากขึ้นด้วยเช่นกัน 

ถ้ามีพ่อแม่ท่านใด หรือผู้อ่านท่านใดอยากแชร์ประสบการณ์ต่างๆ เกี่ยวกับการเลือก รร. ให้ลูก หรือว่าอยากแนะนำ รร หรือประสบการณ์ในการเลี้ยงลูก ยินดีรับทุกความคิดเห็นนะคะ ความคิดเห็นของทุกๆ จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อพ่อแม่ท่านอื่นๆ มากค่ะ
